WideScreen Dell 3007wfp Problem With Games...

Games just seem to exit right after I launch them. I have...
1ghz p3
512mb rd ram
6600 gt

Is my computer causing the game to just exit before its launched into the game? Anyone had the same problems?

that's rather ironic that you bought a 3007WFP with that system

I would of got a new system + a good monitor = better IMO

Instead of being a bunch of asshats, anyone care to help the guy out? Sorry I don't have any useful advice but I think we should leave this sort of dicketry to OT.

There is no way around this: Perhaps an upgrade to the processor, more RAM, and a better video card.

I am thinking the reason is that the 6600GT doesn't support dual-link dvi

you really should of got a better pc with that baby i hope you plan on getting a new system soon

it's tough to help him since he's not helping us much.

we need more info. are you running at the display's native resolution? all i know is that basic dvi can NOT support that lcd's native res. plus, what game are you trying to play? you really need a system upgrade, because that cpu and ram is definitely bottlenecking the video card a LOT.

shoulda got a new computer instead of the monitor =\

Im just waiting to get a new Conroe 6600 on the 7th. I have the rest of the parts.

My new specs will be:

6600 Conroe
1x2 gigs of gskill ram
Asus P5W Deluxe Motherboard
Ati x1900xtx Video Card
Xfi Xtreme Music Sound Card
Logitech z680's

My screen resolution is : 2560 x 1600. I play games like Age of Mythology, Tribes 2, BF2 Demo

and what game re u trying to play? the problem isnt with your monitor. its your system. a 1GHz P3 is hardly enoguh to run any modern game out now smoothly. As for your video card, it cant handle any game at that native res. DVI alone cant handle that res without some sort of bottleneck.

The monitor is to post to be dual dvi. But their is only 1 dvi cable - Is their to post to be two connections to the video card? And my 6600 gt does have imports for two dvi connections.

I guess the bottleneck is my system, but it wont even let me launch. Oh well, I have to wait for my conroe.

dual-link dvi doesn't mean there is dual cables it's one cable google it

BTW nice system glad to hear you didn't buy a 3007WFP for that computer

its dual-link dvi that you need. its just 1 cable and shouldnt look any different from a dvi cable. it provides twice the bandwidth in 1 channel. dual-dvi is just a component configuration that has 2 separate dvi connections, each for its own separate channel, if you may call it that. dvi can only run a certain maximum res before it causes problems with the display. i dont remember that that number is though.
