Widescreen Compatability

Ok, quick question:

I've been charged with buying my Dad a flat panel computer monitor. Question: His computer is about a 3-yr old Dell Dimension, it has no video card, just onboard video from the motherboard. Will that be able to run a widescreen monitor that has a default resolution of 1440 x 900? Need to confirm that obviously before I buy something.

Thanks in advance!

I just set one up for my parents, they have an older Dell with onboard video. Once I loaded the monitor drivers, everthing worked fine.

Probably will work fine with WS, worse comes to worse, the monitors built in scaling will "contort" the resolution to whatever the desktop is set at, might look slightly smashed / stretched, but it will still display. Be sure that it is running the latest video drivers from Intel (I assume that the dell is using Intel Extreme Graphics).
