Not sure if t was discussed before - search is not working now.

I was going to buy 20.1 in wide screen LCD monitor - they all coming with native resolution 1680x1050. All reviews said that check your video card before buying.

I have 2 ATI AIW cards - I don't see it here. I also checked old GEForce - same.

Anyone can tell me what card supports it or I better go with 4:3 19" flatpanel?
I am not a gamer and really like AIW TV features.

Thanks

It will work fine. Any card in the past 3+ years is going to have the support for 1680x1050. If for some reaosn the newest Cats or Forceware didn't have that resolution, it can be easily added as a custom resolution. I think Dell mentions it like a big deal cause most of the systems they sell are crap and integrated Intel video of years ago might not have WS resolutions for whatever reason.

Make sure if you get a monitor, it's one of these:

1. Gateway FPD2185W
2. HP f2105
3. NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2
4. Samsung SyncMaster 244T
5. Viewsonic VP2330wb
6. Dell 3007WFP
7. Samsung 214T
8. Samsung 930MP
9. Samsung 940MW
10. Samsung 242MP
11. Sony MFM-HT95
12. Sony MFM-HT75W
13. D3ll 2007WFP

These are the only monitors that provide HDCP support for Vista and high definition movie playback for HD-DVD and BlueRay.

The problem is I don't see this resolution if I uncheck "Hide modes that monitor does not support" and select "List All Modes"

I see 1600x1200 and 1732x1344 and nothing in between :(

For one thing, 1680x1050 will come before 1600x1200. And second, I take it you are just seeing if the resolution is available? When I had my Samsung 900NF (a 19" CRT), it had many resolutions available with my 9800. But I don't remember 1680x1050 being one of them, yet when I got my 2005FPW 1680x1050 was there.

WIth your 2006 Radeon its garaunteed (sp?) to have it.

edit: And btw, if you ever need to add a custom resolution, for ATI cards you'll need a utility like Powerstrip. Nvidia has custom resolutions additions built-in, but its nearly as easy with Powerstrip anyway.

You're not going to get resolutions on the slider that your current (!) monitor doesn't support.

You'll have to check the "List All Modes" button from the graphics card's Advanced Properties sheet.
