Wide angle lens for Trendnet IP camera ?

You could try attaching one of those generic cell phone camera lenses to them with glue or whatever tickles your fancy.

He could have come across the ones above for an unbelievable deal, or they were hand-me-down's.

Right, thanks?

So to clarify, for around $75-100 he can buy a camera of comparable quality and get factory lens options without resorting to glue and duct tape.

I'm saying that he already purchased them - odds are he's looking for a solution like I provided vs. buying new ones. Go troll ATLR.

Who is trolling? Jesus Christ man breathe a little. Not all of us want to play arts and crafts when dealing with security. If they do fine, if they did not know of alternatives then I mentioned them.

No one is trying to show you up, get over that.

dougp - Thanks for the advice. I got the general idea . I might even try
a video camera "conversion lens " . I am not sure how to deal with the 1" diameter protruding plastic bezel around the lens on the camera (not flat like a cell phone ) . I might start out with the cheapest cell phone lens (<$2 at fleabay) just to see what I am getting into.

BTW -The cameras were given to me .
However, I am curious as to which inexpensive similar shaped/sized WIFI IP IR LED cameras with the same features have a wide angle lens or removable lens /options ?

I ordered a cell phone phone wide angle accessory lens . It will take a while to arrive .

Also , I did some more searching. Maybe I can actually replace the stock board lens ( go from 4mm to 2.8mm ). I need to take some measurements.

Edit- I think I found the information that I was looking for while looking for a wide angle lens online. I saw the post below on the DE site where someone used a 2.1mm lens on a Zonet ZVC7611 camera ( uses the same OEM Fitivision CS1000 platform as the Trendent TV-IP110 , Airlink AICN500 etc .). I would buy 2.8 mm lens and hopefully not have to move the mount .

View Product Details A little blurry, no IR filter, but very wide angle

Pros:
I had a webcam (zonet zvc7611) that needed a wider angle. The threads on this lens fit perfectly, but the focal distance is longer so this lens needs to be further away than the stock lens. This means that the lens had to be held in *front* of the lens mount for the image to be in focus.
To solve this, I put spacers (little washers) between the lens mount and the circuit board. The screws still secure the lens mount (even though it's a little wobbly now), and the lens *just* barely focuses.
The image has strange colors due to the lack of IR filter, but picks up a lot more light indoors because of that. It also does *amazing* in low light / nighttime compared to the stock lens, and I don't even need an IR LED array - a little night light in the corner of the room provides more than enough light to see now.
The focus is decent but not great, in the middle of the image. It's awful at the edges. Not a big deal, since the view-angle is so large.
And the view angle is large (!!!). I can see a *lot* more with this lens than the stock one, and it's really made this webcam much better for my purposes.

Cons:
Blurry outer edges.
Needs longer lens mount than stock, required mods.

Bottomline:
Where image quality is not the top priority, but you need a wider viewing angle, this is an awesome lens. Worth the price, even if it does seem a bit much at first. Highly recommended for those in similar situations. "

Advice is appreciated . - Thanks

An update -

1. The cheap plastic cellphone lens (" jelly lens " ) works . I does the job but the image quality is not what I would like to have . I may buy a better quality (glass ) cellphone lens or a video camera accessory lens .

2. The 2.8mm lens that I ordered would not focus . It appears that the mount is not long enough to get the lens the correct distance fro the sensor so that if will focus . I didn't want to risk messing up the camera by removing it and shimming behind it as some mentioned in DE post quoted above . Maybe one day.....
