you, sir, are an ass.

to answer the question, cowsclaw, i would say a couple hundred bucks. it has a nice amount of hard drive space, and a tv tuner, but the other components aren't going to make it really desirable as a whole. you would probably make more money parting it out and selling the components individually here on the for sale forum. another option is to put it on ebay. if you do that, make sure that you hype up the hard drive space and tv tuner. give it a description like "shazaam! great for college students! save lots of pr0n and even watch tv!! where else could you do that? here! shabazzle!" 🙂

what's your problem? if you didn't like it, you could have simply not replied.

thanks for bumping the message up, though.

It's not that bad. At least it's a 550 PIII and not a 233MX or something.

Cowsclaw, just FYI; this is not the proper forum. Might want to try FS/FT. 🙂

How much you'd get really depends on to whom you're selling it to. Anyone "techy" like those here at AT...you might get $250 for it. Maybe. If you're selling to Joe Nobody that doesn't even have a PC and knows nothing about them, $500 or so is possible.

I don't think you can do pricechecks in Anandtech forums, neither in the FS/FT or externally other subsectioned forums of AT. So this will be locked.

Or keep it around for a file server, schedule backups, or smth. Or give it away.

that would be my suggestion, donate it. i know schools can use'em, as well as alot of other charity foundations. works great for them too, they don't need top of the line, just stuff to do Word and email with. 🙂

As a whole it is in the 150-200 if you are lucky and sell at ebay as ppl here are cheapos....

PART IT OUT!!!

Those harddrives can get 50-60 for the one and about 30 or so for the 22gb one...

That xp software buy itself can be worth around 100 by itself...ppl take for granted the software in a complete system...

Those ata cards are constantly popular around here and can fetch 10-15 dollars...

Internal zips can get 20-25 range
DVD-rom is decent as well as the cd-rw can get about 40 for the both of them...
The SB live can get some cash as well...

You are getting the point!!! I once parted a system I couldn't sell for 250 as a whole and made clse to 400 selling it in parts...

Just try to sell it to some local person. If you sell it to someone who doesnt know much about PC's then you can get twice the amount for what you would get on here.

Try local first if it fails sell here.

Ahh what to do all think I can get with my system

1.33 ghz Tbird
ECS k7S5A
beige Inwin Case with 300 watt
Radeon 8500 128 meg
256 megs DDR SDRAM
NIC built in
56k Modem
Maxtor 60gig 7200 rpm HD
SB live
15 inch NEC monitor
16x10x40 CDRW
16x DVD
Windows XP
OfficeXP
Visual Studio.net
Creative 4.1 channel speakers

I agree with all those that say Part it Out...got some worthwhile stuff, but not a worthwhile system...at least for anything but burning CDs

yeah, if you take it apart, you'll be making a ton more. each hard drive, as well as that tuner card and OS can easily get you $50 or more.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NEWBIES DON'T READ THE RULES. THE RULES SPECIFICALLY STATE THAT THERE ARE TO BE NO PRICE CHECKS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED ON ANY FORUM OR THREAD.

Much better system here!!! I would still likley part it out as you have some fine components...I like your CDRW!!!! The software alone is worth a couple hundred.

"I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NEWBIES DON'T READ THE RULES. THE RULES SPECIFICALLY STATE THAT THERE ARE TO BE NO PRICE CHECKS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED ON ANY FORUM OR THREAD. "

I think the fact it has gone this long makes me think it isn't that big og the issue for the moderators....I think price checks are a worthwhile thing whether in here or a newly created forum for it...

That system is MUCH better than the PC my wife still uses to do web surfing, word processing, photo viewing, scanning, etc.
I would say that you would probably get top dollar for it by putting it up to bid on eBay. (I usually do my price checks on things by doing a search for simialr items on eBay, checking COMPLETED auctions)Parting it out would possibly get you more $, but obviously, would be a bigger pain in the tush.

One big factor would be whether you are including an original WinXP Pro CD with it. That, in itself, is potentially worth a hundred bucks.
And if you are not including the CD, it may be technichally illegal to sell the comp with the operating system installed, not that I am preaching to you about it.

BTW, you gotta ignore some of the PC snobs we've got around here.😉
