Hey, i decided to go and look up a review of my mobo cuz i dont know too much about the thing tbh, i was told previously by somone on here that its a K8T NEO so i looked it up and sure enough i found pics of big red mobos. But one thing that every one of those mobos had was 3 ram slots and mines only got 2. Is mine a cheapskate version or somthing?? should it have 3 slots?

What model number is printed on the motherboard? There's a K8T NEO-FIS2R version and a K8T NEO-FSR one. Both show 3 slots for memory. Maybe you got an updated version or a fake maybe. Where was it bought from?

What's the full model name? Went to MSI's site and couldn't find such a mobo(only 2 ram slots), is this an OEM board maybe?

Well all i can see on it is a big thing with MSI AGP 8X on it and a small sticker with K8T800 on it. Parents bought me it from pcworld and it was made by Advent who cluld also go by the name of trigem computer as thats what dxdiag tells me. Ill go look again for somthing more identifiable.

o dear it gets worse. The ones on site have 5 pci slots and mine has 3, no big deal but its still a diffrence that really shouldnt be there. The board actually says "TG K8T800" could tg stand for trigem??? are other companies allowed to make scaled down versions of MSI's boards?? if so i think thats what i may have, a K8T NEO with less slots. :( no biggie but it still bugs me.
P.S whats an OEM board?

It is because it's a cheap version Advent apperently only make them with reduced capacities

omg, thats it in 2-3 yrs time when this comps had its day ill build one myself. Advent can go screw themselves those scamming cheapskate lousy people! i thought my comp was a good deal but now im learning all this techy stuff im slowly realising it wasent really, bad cooling//crap gcard//one hdd broke(replaced by company)//reduced mobo//supplied keyboard looks like it was designed by a 3 yr old (bad key layout)//idiot case design(the doors built into the case open up and cover up the buttons on the cd drives disabling the ability to close them with the button so i took the doors off :) note to all: dont buy advent!! thanks for the info guys.

Some manufacturer have different versions of the same board or maybe your board is a micro atx. i have a extra matx that has 2 ram slot. don't worry about it, use bigger memory.

OEM is what I think you have. :) Basically a mobo made for a Systems seller/manufacturer, usually to custom specifications. Not a Retail board that you could find in a store.
