Its weird, almost every Winchester AMD 64 3500+ I've come accross is either out of stock, or OEM without heatsink and fan. I'm assuming this was one of their older models. Why is it so hard to find if its supposedly so good?

One word.... "yeilds" AMD is useing worse tools and fabing plants than Intel. While Inte's design sucks atleast they can crank Prescotts out till the cows come home. AMD on the other hand cant do the same. They have a much higher defective CPU rate

Many of the boxed 3500s in circulation ATM are Clawhammers... I wouldn't be surprised if that's what A2Z has. But it sounds like these are very overclockable (read Shimmishim's report here), so if that's what you want to do it might be worth trying it out... or wait for the Venice cores to come out and see what the word on the street is.

I'd wait for venice. It looks like it has alot of potential but it could be a while before theres a good supply of them. Could be alot of price gouging.

The part number says BIBOX, that is Winchester.

The newer core IS Winchester, unless they have a Venice core that is scheduled for release on April 4. If it IS a Venice, then get it, as the Venice are reportedly significantly better than the Winchester core.

just get a 3200+ - it can OC just as high as the 3500, and will cost you way less - plus there's no chance of getting a crappy newcastle core. Of course, waiting for venice is always a viable option, although i'm not sure how low the speed grades will go on venice (i doubt they'll make a 3000+ that can hit 3GHz on air, lol).
