Why are people here always asking "which is best?" Usually the answer is simple -- buy what you want and can afford -- look at the features yourself and make your own call!!
 
Maybe people wanna know if there are driver issues, compability issue etc.

Looking at the specs don't really tell you much, asking people who already own the product in question does.

Of course people asking "IS the K7 better than the P3" when there are 5 threads dealing with that very subject on the next page is a tad annoying.
 
people want a compromise. they don't want to get something so 'overpriced' if it's not worth it...and they wouldn't know if no one has gotten it yet.

The answer is within your own question! Usually is fine until you are the one wanting to avoid a problem.
 
What is &quot;usually&quot; an easy answer for some may not be for others. Some of us are not as technically gifted as others. IMHO, experience is everything. If I post a which is better post, I want to see people that have both items respond with pros and cons.
 
But &quot;worth it&quot; is relative. To ask &quot;which is best&quot; is also relative to the commentors frame of reference. A more appropriate question would be &quot;how do they compare&quot;.

Assume a Radeon and GF3 card are the same price. I currently have a GF256 and would tend to lean towards and read more about the current nVidia offering(s) (GF3), however I would come in here and ask &quot;which is better&quot; because I know there are people here who use and have read about both.

Or

Maybe I'm &quot;Average Joe&quot; and I go to a 'puter store and they tell me about this company called AMD and this other company called Intel (the store just wants the sale they don't really care about my needs and/or the products performance), I can't make up my mind so I come back here and ask people who are more &quot;in the know&quot;.

Maybe I've always bought Quantum hard drives for the past 10yrs, but now Quantum doesn't exist. I dislike Maxtor and am unsure of IBM. So whta do I do? I say &quot;which is better.....&quot;

And the discussion usually ends up moot. It's like asking which is better, GM or Ford. You get into a religious battle. Those who have used Asus and have no problems many times end up being a zealot about Asus and bash all of the other products, even though they may never have used them. Then you have the other person who had a problem with an Asus board which very well may have been of their own making, and they will flame Asus til the end of time.

Note - I'm just using Asus as an example, plug any manufacturer in there.

I've used boards from Asus, Abit, MSI, Gigabyte, Epox, Shuttle, FIC and Supermicro and have rarely had any problems with any of them. Which is the best? I couldn't tell ya, they've all worked fine.
