Why you shouldn't clean your hands after using the bathroom in a public restroom.

Have you ever thought WHY you should clean your hands after using the bathroom? You probably think because it's hygenic. But in what way? Urine is a very sterile substance, so it's definitely not for that. #2? Well I don't know about you, but I wipe with toilet paper, not my hands.

So now you're thinking "What about filth that gets away and happens to make it to your hand instead of the toilet?" Fair enough. But think on this: Who's filth would you rather have no your hand? Yours or somebody elses? You must realize that unless the faucet in the public restroom has a motion sensor (in which case disregard my arguments entirely) everytime it's turned on it's being touched by a stranger who just had their fingers either on their privates or on a piece of toilet paper very close to them. I think I'll take my odds with my own waste, thanks. You can keep yours on the tap.

Bring on all the people that think using a paper towel to touch everything in the rest room saves them....

Let me piss on your food, then tell me if you will eat it.
That's like saying engine oil is a sterile substance, so it should be good with my food.

I tend to disagree. Here's what I do in a public restroom:

1) Pee or poop
2) Grab a paper towel and put it in my pocket
3) Turn on the faucet
4) Wash my hands
5) Turn off the faucet with aforemetioned paper towel
6) Use same towel to activate towel dispenser and get more towels
7) Dry my hands
8) Leave restroom, using paper towel to open door, if I must pull it

You obviously don't know how to use a bathroom with maximum sterility effect.

1. Flush with your foot. If you're at a urinal, don't flush because it's a waste of water anyway.
2. To exit the stall, use a piece of toilet paper to unlock/open door.
3. Go to the paper towel dispenser FIRST and crank out a few sheets.
4. Turn on faucet to as hot as you can stand. Wash liberally with soap.
5. Leave faucet on. Dry hands. Turn off faucet with paper towel.
6. Still holding paper towel, use it to open exit door to bathroom. Deposit in nearest receptacle.

There, you have officially made it out of the bathroom with neither your germs or anyone else's germs covering your hands.

Bonus: You now have OCD.

Use a paper towel to turn the water on and off. You realize that you are relying on a very thin piece of paper that keeps your fingers from rubbing your bunghole. A little too much pressure and your hands smell like turd all day.

Christ... just wash your hands. I don't want to shake your hand after you were working your junk on the toilet.

Because everyone knows "germs' cannot be transferred through the air. ;)

Well I've not touched a flush handle with anything but my foot in years. I flush a urinal generally with my forearm if I'm wearnig a shirt. If I have to use fingers I touched deep back on it away from where most people will. Also, I open the door touching inconvenient areas of the handle (if possible).

Cleaning your hands when you use the washroom isn't just to clean off whatever pee or poo particles that got on them while in there. It's to clean your hands of all the crud you've got on them throughout the day. Being in the washroom to take a load off merely offers a convienent time to do so.

Other than nose pickings my hands don't get dirty throughout the day though...
