Always seemed like a sucker's game to me, especially since it doesn't even gaurentee you'll get a copy when its released. Did everyone that pre-ordered an xbox 360 get one at launch?

I've pre-ordered DVDs and such before, but we're talking release dates within a few weeks or so. I have never pre-ordered software.

Case in point: Gamestop.. Taking 360 pre-orders all year, but can't deliver for months after launch.

Understandable, the shortage wasn't their fault, but obviously the supply wasn't bad enough to keep them from selling the 1k+ bundles online. All the while the pre-order customers get the high hard one.

I made that mistake with Value America (anyone remember them?). I put in a pre-order for Diablo 2 back in late 1999 then VA went under and my money went with them.
