I always chat with them. I've had some crazy and inspirational stories. One guy was a refugee from Iraq who fought for Saddam but defected and was able to immigrate over here.

I talked to my Uber drivers in Boston. They mostly wanted to complain about how much their rent was.

places I've gone in different cities all were ~$2/mile

market dependent, LA is a whopping 90 cents a mile. Many other equally dismal markets for Uber drivers out there.

One gave me a recipe for cow tongue tacos which I have yet to try. Another told me the government was actively tracking him because he was an 'activist', and that all of his devices were bugged. Another was politely pissed that I was heading out of the city (airport pickup) during rush hour.
