Ordered a SK-7 and some fans from SVCompucycle on Friday. No sooner do i place my order but i get the email from them (the details of which are in the sticky at the top of the forums) advertising this same heatsink for $16.99. I had just paid $19.99 for it no less than two minutes before. Well, i'm not really upset because it's only 3 bucks, but just to be a smartass (not one of my finer qualities it's true) i hit reply to the automated email and "couldn't you have sent this like 5 minutes ago before i placed my order?"

Lo and behold, within 24 hours i get a response back from SVC saying they had found my order (referencing my email address i suppose) and had applied the coupon to it retroactively and advising me that i should see a $3 credit to my card shortly.

Needless to say, this is going above and beyond for an online retailer. I've had nothing with good experiences with them in my prior transactions with them, and this just cements their "great retailer" status for me. Thumbs up to SVCompucycle, they're definitely one of the good guys out there for us!

They've turned around 180 degrees from a few months ago, when everyone was ready to firebomb the place for the crap they used to pull on people! Around Christmas they were notorious for screwing up orders, and generally jerkin' people around...

I've never had any problems with them myself, except for poor order tracking facilities....

A lot of retailers don't realize how big of a difference a tiny bit of service goes. As you said, it was only $3, but that $3 "loss" is likely to return more business since you're telling everyone about it.

Well my story doesn't go as well as yours! I order a new HSF and round cables last weekend. Right after I place the order I decide I would like to have double the amount of cables added to the order. I call the phone number and of course they are closed but they say in there voice mail to E-MAIL the shipping E-MAIL address if you want to make a change to your order. I follow the directions exactly and send the E-MAIL before they open Monday morning. Tuesday morning I get an E-MAIL saying sorry I was too late. I respond by saying if you can't or don't read your E-MAIL in time to change the order than please remove that option from your Voicemail. BTW they also sent me a IDE cable instead of a floppy cable that I ordered. I understand that companies make mistakes but this didn't leave a good impression on me considering this was my first order from them.

heck, you only missed the new price by a few mins.

I missed it by like half a day once, and they wouldn't give it to me for the new price, what ever, it's still cheaper than most online places.

and I do have to give it to them for the big improvement over the past few months. lots of new faces over there and they are a lot friendlier.
