Why would you name your son an anatomical name?

A coworker of mine's first name is Dick. Someone just came around looking for "Mr. Johnson" (real last name). Names like Leg, Arm, or Butt are pretty commonly accepted as anatomical. But what possesses a parent to name their child something like Dick? I guess to honor some dead relative or something, but is that really worth putting your kid through the unavoidable teasing? I just don't understand some people's motivations

My middle name is "thing between your balls and anus". I usually truncate it to Grundel.

Want to get your sh!t kicked in? Call the wrong Richard a Dick. Many Richards are namesaked to grandparents named and who went by Dick because that was a more common nickname 60-80 years ago. I know at least one guy who would break your face for calling him Dick because his loyalty to his grandfather is that strong and he would take it as a personal affront to the deceased.

That seems a tad extreme. I mean, I could maybe understand if you called his grandfather a goat-raping poo-eating pederast, but what you're talking about seems to at best warrant a few vulgarities.
