Why would you close daycare for light snow?

Especially when the local businesses here don't close for heavy snow and ice. Now people won't have anyone to watch their kids, and will have to call in or spend some huge amount for a babysitter.

That just sounds like bad business.

It sucks, but... I'm sure if they could be open, they would..

Key staff probably couldn't make it in..

shrug..

A lot of parents will stay home, because they suck at the snow driving.

This translates to less customers. It might be economically feasible to just close it.

Well, they're just waking up and calling in. They all sound like they were still lying in bed from waking up.

I dunno, it just seems stupid that if everyone else in the county has to go to work, you should at least try.

If heavy snow, ice are wind are predicted schools and daycares have to factor in the possibility that they will lose lights/heat and/or be stuck with children for hours and hours beyond their normal operating hours and they might not have the facilities to cope with that.

Do you get compensated if they close up shop for the day? I don't know if you pay weekly or bi-weekly or monthly, but would you get that day off the price?

Maybe they just NEED a day off. They work harder than people in most any line of work. I know I couldn't do it.

Public schools are closed, aren't they? Who's going to be watching their young school children?

Wait, I'm confused.

You mean the day care people's kids?

Seems like the best response I've read so far.

I know, that's why I qualified it with light snow.

Did your public schools close or not? If they did, who watches the youngest school kids at that point? Whoever watches those kids can also watch the day care kids.

Did they say it was due to light snow? Perhaps some sort of infestation was discovered (e.g., crabs, lice) and they need a day to bomb their place.
