Why would the new intel motherboard support crossfire and not SLI?

Review of the X38 (linked from AT front page) says most of the intel chipsets support CF, but not SLI.

Why would Intel do this when they own Nvidia and support CS is helping ATI?

Intel don't own nVidia & Intel & nVidia appear unable (or don't want to) to come to a licence agreement.

AMD bought ATI. Intel did not buy NVIDIA.
