Why would someone want to buy a dead hd?

True but no geniuses can fix a dead hd. What if the disc is so scratched up that it's next to useless?

sometimes you can fix a dead hd by replacing hte controller board with a healthy one

some people think they can buy a dead HDD and return it under warranty for a new, maybe even higher-capacity one.

really really strong magnets are fun to play with:) thats what i do with my dead ones.


as for warrantees...they are mostly 1yr these days. and tracked by the drive serial numbers.


and yes, if its just the board on ur drive thats fried, u can try to fix with a swap. for 1.99 its a decent chance to take.
