Why would someone think that an overclocked Sempron can perform better than an A64?

Even with half the cache and it being overclocked, how in the world does a Sempron perform better than an A64? Is this even possible?

Depends on the clockspeeds at hand, doesn't it? In pure speed, I suspect a sempron that's running at 2.6 will cream an a64 at 1.8, cache or no.

Definitly. I just upgraded from A64 2800 to a Sempron 2600 then oc'd it to 2.35ghz, HUGE difference over the old chip. Even at lower speeds it far outperforms, its about the same at 2.05-2.1 I'd say.
