Why would someone do this?

Fvcking woman in a red Alero dinged the passenger side door of my new white Honda Accord.
I parked as far away from everyone as I could, and next concrete curb in the parking lot to avoid anyone hitting my drivers side. So instead of getting the easier parking spots, some woman drives right up next to me, parks there, opens her door, and hits my car. There were 30 spots around that area. She picked the spot right next to the only car there.
She left as I was coming out of the restaurant, so I couldn't do anything. But had her car still be there, I would have kicked the side in on it.
Why? Why would anyone do that?

People place way too high a value on their car. It is fun to make fun of them.

I used to commute with 3 others guys into work in SF. One day we pulled into the parking lot behind the Giants stadium and noticed one car was parking in the middle of nowhere. I was driving and pulled up right next to him. All four of us got out laughing.

He was bitter.

know anyone at a bodyshop? they might be able to "un-ding" it with a plunger type thing.

I am 34.

I said way too high a value. I didn't say value.

Cars will be dinged all the time through just wear and tear.

Very true, but it has to happen at some point.

Were you taking up two parking spots?

I HATE when people do that.

Though I have never purposely dinged someones car that DID do that, I can understand why someone would....

yah if you were taking 2 spots up you are just as much an asshole as the person who dinged your car, except they probably did it on accident while you would have double parked on purpose.

however i doubt that was the case. that sucks though man.

I don't mind people taking up two spots if a parking lot is mostly empty (and will be for the duration of when they are there), and they go to the back.

Not always.
If you buy them new it does, but save some money, buy second hand, and it's likely already got a few war marks. My car was covered in them when I bought it, so when I managed to remove someone elses wingmirror it didn't matter (50/50 blame, both going too fast down a narrow lane).

But I didn't feel too bad, I just got a tiny dent in the door, which already had like a dozen dents 🙂

This is why I hesitate to drive a nice car, if you drive a meh car, you still get pissed when something like this happens, but not too pissed.
