Why would someone buy an unlocked iPhone5 from Newegg instead of Apple?

oh ok. that's why it's good to live in america
in many ways we're lucky when goods are actively sold in the US. the demand in the US coupled with an excellent supply chain allows us to have relatively cheap gas, electronics, and cars.

however when you talk about importing stuff like when the GS2 first hit the market, it sold for $900 in the US. They were imported handsets. The same happens with iPhones around the world. People buy in the US to sell overseas. The iPhone is only available unlocked through a handful of countries that have the Apple store. As a result an unlocked iPhone sells for a ridiculous price on the market. You can sell it for $1000 in China easily.
