Why would somebody have their large dog sitting in car all day while at work?

What planet do you live on?

Large breed dogs can absolutely hold it for 8-12 hours if they need to; though it's rather unfair to the dog and 12 hours is really stretching it. Do you just not believe that to be possible?

The planet where I don't allow my dog to shit all over the place? Apparently, someplace you've never heard of.

I had a friend whose dog would leak - maybe a teaspoon or two of urine - any time they met a stranger. It was a submissiveness thing, and had nothing to do with the dog being housebroken. They kept a roll of paper towels by the front door.

I don't think it's particularly uncommon.

excited-pee is fairly common, but not the same as a dog pissing/shitting everywhere while you are gone.

Except, that doesn't apply to a dog left alone, as it shouldn't be meeting strangers when nobody is home. And, I'm pretty sure that is an issue with the dog not being well socialized.

He wouldn't? I've never had a dog make it past puppyhood that can't not piss and shit all over my house... Have you ever heard of training your dog?

12 hours seriously with no accidents.

Your username is probably very true.

BTW being in a car locked up makes bodily needs more necessary.

You should not leave your dog in the car all day. We all know that it gets pretty hot in a car over time. Over a very short period of time on warm days. I don't really have a problem with them being confined - it's like keeping them in a crate at home. However, they can cause much more damage in a car if they freak out and you have to worry about people breaking your window or calling the police (as they should).
