Why would my Viking Compact Flash be incompatible with my Lyra RD2201 MP3 player?

Awhile ago I bought a cheap refurb compact flash based MP3 player (Lyra RD2201) that I heard about in Hot Deals.

This past week Buy.com had a bunch of sale on 512MB Compact Flash cards. I bought a Sandisk, Lexar, and viking. The Sandisk and Lexar work fine but the Lyra says the Viking is incompatible and then shuts down.

I thought all compact flash cards are compatible? I thought the only difference would be speed.
