Why would my mouse cause interference with my speakers?

Any ideas? The wires are not crossed anywhere, actually, they are going opposite ways but whenever I move my mouse (optical) I can "hear" it move over the speakers...

lol that's odd..

my only explanation is that you're hearing the mouse interrupt the soundcard too much for it to continue good playback..

but I don't know the specs of your computer, so I reserve final judgement!

wow, I was just going to ask this question as I have the exact same issue! If you have a soundcard where you can turn down the Aux channel, the interferance goes down in volume with it... I have no clue what is causing it... this is with a Logitech Optical Ifeel Ergonomic

What do you mean by opposite? If they are running parallel you will hear a scratching type noise when you move the mouse.

It is okay if they cross as long as they cross at about 90 degrees. (which is kinda hard to do)

What I would do is have one wire go around the right side of the desk and the other go around the left.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I suppose it is possible that if the mouse wire is parallel with the power cord for the speakers it could cause interference. (but I doubt it)

This use to be a real common thing in on-board sound (At least in the brands I have used, was one of the reasons I insisted on Soundblaster (usually 16's) cards in systems I built). The solution is to turn the gain down in the controls and the volume up on the speakers. It has been a while since I have seen one with that problem, but it also use to do it with el-cheapo cards (a few years back).

I had the same problem with my old SoundBlaster X-Gamer and M$ IntelliMouse Explorer. Ever time I moved the mouse I heard a buzzing sound from the speakers and it got louder when the pointer was over a hyperlink.
