Mirror lenses = funky bokeh
For small size, weight, and CHEAP price for the given focal length, that's basically it. Wide aperture costs you in size, weight, and money and it increases rapidly with each stop.
And I'm not sure but I think I can get low end zoom lenses for roughly the same price, yes?
Mirror lenses are sharper right?
I used to carry a Canon FD 300/4 in my bag because always carrying a 300/2.8 was too much. Back then the Nikon shooters carried the Nikon 300/4.5 and I thought losing the extra half stop made it too slow to be useful. F6.3 would be really bad.
Anyway, real pros uses lenses like this $99 Rokinon 500mm f/8.0:
