Why would anyone take this drug??

guyver01

Lifer
Side effects include fluid retention, weight gain, high blood pressure, potassium loss, headache, muscle weakness, puffiness of the face, hair growth on the face, thinning and easy bruising of the skin, glaucoma, cataracts, peptic ulceration, worsening of diabetes, irregular menses, growth retardation in children, convulsions, and psychic disturbances. Psychic disturbances may include depression, euphoria, insomnia, mood swings, personality changes, and even psychotic behavior.

Good God... why would anyone take this??

btw...

the drug in question?

Steroids.

Psychic? Does it really say psychic? What an odd choice of word.

Edit - as for the reason people take it, well athletes aren't exactly famous for their intellectual prowess.

The fact that they shrink your nads is reason enough to not take them short of for a extreme medical reason.

LOL yup...

was just about to post that too...

Another side effect is..

TESTICULAR ATROPHY

:Q

there are some steriods that are prscribed for skin conditions, but that isn't long term.

but ya, the side effects are just nuts. wouldn't take them long term for sure.

Such side effects are rare, or practically unheard of. This is just propaganda against a viable drug that can make people better than what they are. My army, you see, will be given steroids as part of their dietary supplements. I'm assured that they will be most effective.

Wasn't that drug the basis of the plot from F.E.A.R.? "If you experience hallucinations involving a demonic 7 year old, discontinue use and seek a doctor immediately."

While most of those aren't too far off, I constantly hear the same comment about prescription drug commercials on tv, "Why would you take that if it's going to cause those problems??"

In any drug testing, the company is required to have two test groups, one with the drug, the other with a placebo. The people taking the drug then list everything they thought was a side effect of the drug while they're doing the testing. The drug company then has to list ALL the side effects that were reported, even from the placebo group!

And you wondered why the cost of prescription drugs was so ridiculous? Add that to the list.

It's hard to have the TV on these days and not see a commercial for Ambien. Have you ever listened to the list of side effects for that medication? My wife and I laugh every time we hear them.

Ambien side affects.

?More outgoing or aggressive behavior than normal
?Confusion
?Strange behavior
?Agitation
?Hallucinations
?Worsening of depression
?Suicidal thoughts

Just to name a few. The commercial says taking Ambien may cause death.

Great stuff!

I'm in, where do I buy them?

Are these anabolic steroids? Not all steroids are anabolic? Doesn't look like everyone realises that..

I thought we had this thread a few months ago.

Any drug you take is going to have a list of side effects a mile long, it doesn't mean anything unless you look at what the relative frequencies of those side effects are. I mean, death is a potential side effect of driving for christ's sake.
