Why would anyone not ship to APO/FPO addresses?

I see this all the time when looking at auctions. Is there any drawbacks to shipping our armed forces necessary comforts that we all take for granted?

Some people are just uneducated as to what an APO/FPO is.

i dunno... but i sold a hercules prophet 2 ultra a couple of years ago to an apo address in japan... he told me to just drop it off at the post office... total cost was under $5 for a big box... saved me ... so i added a couple more free stuff like fans and whatever.

FedEX and UPS do not deliver to them.

Army Post Office (APO) and Fleet Post Office (FPO) addresses are not accepted by UPS.

FedEx cannot deliver to U.S. military post office box addresses such as APO and FPO.

Well FedEX and UPS won't deliver to Post Office boxes, that's probably why they won't deliver to APO/FPO boxes
