Why would a PCMCIA wireless card go 3x the speed as my internal minipci wifi card?

Ok, i may have posted about this in the past, but there has since been some new significant developments and i couldnt find the thread.

I have an IBM T41 laptop & D-Link DI-624 Router, on my 10megabit Roadrunner connection

Speakeasy Atlanta speedtest on the laptop is as follows;
T41 w/ Intel 2200bg MiniPCI Internal --> 3mbps
T41 w/ IBM a/b/g MiniPCI Internal --> 3.5mbps
T41 w/ Belkin 54g PCMCIA Card --> 9.5mbps

What would be the cause of my MiniPCI wifi cards having such a significant speed difference?

All drivers have been checked and double checked, all antennas seated properly. Speed stays the same even when im ~ 1.5ft from the router. Interestingly enough, even on my university's fat pipe, when im on via wifi and the MiniPCI card, speedtests max out at 3.5mbps.

check if you are connecting at "g" speeds when you connect.
your minipci could be defaulting to "b" instead of G
if your wireless router supports if, put it into "G" only mode

Router is 'G' only already.

All cards show they are connecting at 54mbps.

Might be that the card is in Power Saving Mode.

Might be "Bad" Card/Intrenal Antenna.

If it was a bad card though, wouldn't replacing the card with the other internal card fix it?

Can antennas go bad? Checked and double checked the Main/Aux connections, snug as a bug.

well all the minipci cards will share the same antenna.
it usually loops through the frame on the lcd. If the cable were to get kinked and be slightly shorting out on a pice of metal inside your lcd hinge or something, it would indicate a valid reason for a lower reception capability, hence a lower speed.
so yeah, JackMDS could be on the right track
