Why would a PC reboot after "verfying DMI Pool"?

haven't seen the computer do this. It has been explained to me over the phone.

The BIOS see's the HD.
In the BIOS you can auto-detect the HD or set it manually.

If you boot to a diskett then you cannot get to the c:
Says "..invalid disk.." (I believe)

Computer sounds like it nevers finishes the POST

Cannot boot to normal or safe mode, nor can you boot to Command Prompt only.

Person said they came home an computer seemed to be 'sleeping' and wouldn't 'wake'.

Computer was turned off, thinking it was acting up, and when it rebooted the problems started.

Check the boot sequence. If its going to floppy first, see if it'll let you boot off a floppy. Or set it to Floppy/CD-Rom and see if it will boot off either of these. If it boots off those, but not the hard drive, then possibly something has gone awry with the hard drive, and you may need to repair the mbr.
