Why wont WindowsXP let me install my Sound Blaster Audigy???

am running a AMD 1,2 GHz athlon on a Abit Kt7 motherboard. 256 MB ram. Nvidia GeForce 256 DDR Video Card. Just bought a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card, but after I installed it in my computer, XP wont install it, keeps saying the data is invalid, from the installation CD.
I went to the store and exchanged it for a new one, but I get the same error. Cannot install this hardware, there was an error installing this device. The data is invalid.

Anyone know how I can fix this???????

Hmmm. I think I remember the driver update on the web page said to install the CD software first, but you might want to try to install just the drivers for Windows XP from the Creative website? Again, I'm not sure if it'll work or not, but that'd be what I'd try next. I know there's the original update and another one as well now, so perhaps you could try both. Good luck!

I downloaded their latest drivers, says to install them I need the original drivers from the CD installed first.

Sorry to hear that. I can't remember how the CD is set up, but have you tried installing *only* the basic drivers with the Hardware Installation Wizard in control panel instead of running setup from the CD (or vice-versa)? I can't imagine what'd be causing that problem.
