Why wont WindowsXP install my new Sound Blaster Audigy soundcard????

I am running a AMD 1,2 GHz athlon on a Abit Kt7 motherboard. 256 MB ram. Nvidia GeForce 256 DDR Video Card. Just bought a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card, but after I installed it in my computer, XP wont install it, keeps saying the data is invalid, from the installation CD. Anyone know how I can fix this???????

yeah but there an update, I cant find complete drivers from their site, and they have no techinal troubleshooting section I could find. Do you think the data is bad from the CD? or the sound card itself is bad????? WindowsXP detects the sound card and all that, but when trying to install it, it says bad data when trying to install. Is there anywhere I could get a full driver install without having to use the CD?

I just installed an Audigy on my PC running XP today. It installed the drivers and rebooted fine. I'm not sure if your cd is bad like cleverhandle said or if it's something else.

It's probably a bad CD.

It seems as if Creative has put out a bad batch of Installation CDs, as there are a number of people with this problem. Either contact where you bought the card from, or Creative, and obtain a replacement CD.

The update drivers on the Creative website are not standalone.....you must have the original drivers from the Installation CD on the system before you can perform the update for Audigy cards.
