I will admit it, i am new to laptops, this is my first one.

It is a Dell Latitude LM, p133 40mb 1.4gig

I just got a 3com 10/100 xjack card for it but it wont go in! product link

It is the same as the 33k pcmia card that is currently in the slot, except the plastic notch on one side is taller on the 3com.

What is going on? Why wont it go in?

btw, yes, the pcmia bus on this is 32bit and the dell specs say it supports Type i, II, III

the notch is there for a reason. you can use that card in that laptop. look for another one.

Are you sure your dell has a "cardbus" slot. I have a P-120 toshiba that can't use "cardbus" 32bit PCMCIA cards. They usually have some sort of gold bumps at the end of the card that goes into the slot.

the gold bumps hae nothing to do with it....

the notching does though....on 32bit cardbus adapters...those notches prevent the card from doing in. THe one that you have, which does go in...is the 16 bit pcmcia.....

hence that's why it will not slip in....
