Why wont my pictures show as "Thumbnails" with Vista

I recently switched over from XP to Vista. In XP, wheneer I was viewing images in a folder, I always had the "view" optiion of "thumbnails" and I could see the actualy picture or image.

Since converting to Vista, I notice there isnt a "thumbnail" view and I have tried ALL the differnt view options and none of them show the actual image, only an icon of it.

This is what it looks like. thumbnails?

It looks like it hasn't finished generating them yet. How long had you had that window open when you took that screenshot?

That is what I thought at first too, but I leave it open for a n hour and they never generate. None of the files are larger than 500-800 kb. I have a very fast computer with 4gb memory, quad core cpu, and 2 raptor HD in raid 0, so I dont think it is a hardware issue.
