I copied some MP3's to a CD using Nero and they burned onto the CD in PM3 format. I have a Coby CD/MP3 player and when I try to play the CD I made on the portable CD/MP3 player all I get is noise. However, if I put the CD witht he MP3s into my CD drive and try to play them with Winamp, Music Match Jukebox, Windows Media Player, etc...it plays fine. Why won't my Coby CD/MP3 player read them?? Is there some wierd format I need to put them in before I burn them. I checked the format AFTER I burned them and they were still MP3 NOT Wav or something else. Any Ideas??

Perhaps your mp3 cd player requires the files to be of a certain bitrate. Double check your owners manual troubleshooting section.

did you finalize the disc? My brother's car player won't play a CDR unless it's been finalized. It does nothing but hiss.

As far as I know if you want a CD with mp3s to be readable in regular CD players, you must burn them as CD AUDIO MEDIA and not DATA. You will not be able to fit hundreds of songs, like you probably did, if you simply created a DATA CD and stuffed MP3s onto it. Typically a 700MB CD can hold 19-24 songs, depending on the size of each song. If you use "regular" 650MB CDs though, you may only be able to fit 16-18 songs though.

Hope this helped.

RSI: I think he said he has CD/MP3 player not just a plain CD player. With a Cd/MP3 player you should be able to play the mp3 data files just as you would on a computer with a data cd with mp3 files.

I wish I could check the owners manual but it didn't come with one. I tried CD-R and CD-RW. And YES this is a CD/MP# player so it is suppose to read the MP3 files, even if I have 300 of them on ONE CD but it isnt. I am assuming that they need to be in some kinda special format or something. I am hoping someone else may have had this problem and can help me.

Maybe its defective. Can you exchange the unit?

Some players picky about the cd brand (like memorex). I would also try using a different burning software.

most Mp3 players require ISO 9660 format or Joliet. I burn mine as Joliet and Disc@Once.

However i have the philips expanium..

search google.. you are bound to find some newsgroup with your problem.
