Why won't my CD drive recognize disk w/autorun.inf?

My Cd drive seems to be working properly. It will play music CDs and read all kinds of disks--EXCEPT if a disk has an autorun.inf file on it, and if that's the case, the drive refuses to even give me a listing of files on the disk. This is true of disks I make myself or get from others. I know because I experimented and proved to myself that it is so.

This is under Win98SE.

Can anyone tell me why this is the case, and how to solve this problem? If you have a disk with an autorun.inf file on it, I know for sure that you can get a listing of files on it and in general treat it like any other CD, for instance you can copy files from the disk to a HD.

Probably a damaged file association for the INF file extension. You should still be able to right click on the CD in My Computer and select "Open"
and that should open the CD directory.

Do a search for INF file association repaor on Google and see if anything comes up.
