Why won't my Asus A7V-133 post with a 150MHz FSB...?

Both my RAM and my CPU can handle it (running right now at 143*10.5) so it's not those. PCI speeds at 150MHz are only 37.5MHz so I don't think that's out of spec.

Any ideas why it wouldn't post at 150MHz? Any ideas on how to get it to post at 150MHz.

I'd rather run at 150*10 than 143*10.5.

No, I can't do that. The chip isn't stable at anything above 1.5GHz.

But I'd rather run at 150*10 than 143*10.5.

What's not working?

You can also try putting some Artic silver on the northbridge... stock Asus puts either nothing or crappy stuff inbetween the northbridge and heatsink.

What does unlocking the L7 brigdes do? Default the chip's voltage to 1.85 volts right?

Anyways, guys, it has nothing to do with the chip. The chip and the RAM run fine at 1500MHz and 150MHz respectively. I'm wondering why the northbrigde on my motherboard won't let me post at 150MHz? Also, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make it post at 150MHz.

My A7V133 wouldn't work at 150 as well. Some mainboards just can't get that high. If you really want 150 you may have to try another mainboard. The Iwill KK266 does 150 without breaking a sweat.

Cheers!

PCI is in spec of 33mhz, so yes, 37.5 is out of spec. The PCI bus maybe fine, but the cards and/or drives connected to it may not be.

A7V133's aren't famous for hitting high FSB's consistently, mine wouldn't go above 140 or so.

My KK266R does much better, though.

I don't understand. How do you know that your ram is capable of that fsb? Have you run it at 150 on another board or something?

mine does 147 perfect.

heres sum ideas. experiment with 1.85 voltage and AUTO voltage, for some reason I can OC higher on AUTO.

another: set system to normal instead of optimal, and try to run the ram at 3,3,3 for testing purposes.

good luck
