My computer worked fine since I first built it in mid Jan '07. Now everything is a mess.
I was experiencing freezes and crashes when trying to play games a few days ago, and then suddenly my computer stopped booting into Windows at all, it would just freeze or crash.
I seem to have rectified that problem (as I am posting on this system right now) but I can't for the life of me get the computer to boot with a video card in the first PCIe x16 slot (that was how it ran since day one). At first I suspected PSU or RAM problems with the initial freezing, but my RAM has been tested to work flawlessly under load in another system. My PSU I am still not 100% sure of, but I believe it is working fine.
Bottom line is: I have my X1900/any vid card in PCIe x16 no. 2 and it works fine, put it in slot 1 and the system either boots up without a video signal to the monitor or doesn't boot at all.
Is this strictly a board problem or could it be PSU/other related...? ... I have a feeling this is not a common problem... *fingers crossed that I'm wrong*
This is a problem because with my vid card in my 2nd PCIe slot I can't play games, they just crash... (Another hint of a PSU problem or is it just that games don't like to run on 'Secondary' display adapters?)
My system is the RD600 one in my sig... Specs:
