Hello,

My system :
ASUS P4S800D-X mother board
Intel 2.4 GB CPU.
1GB Kingston KVR400X64C3A/512 x2
Asylum GeForceFX 256 MB
Seagate 250 GB x2
Sony DVD Rom & DVD ? RW
Antec case 400 Watt power supply

No hardware changes have been done. System running fine for 2.5 years until today .. I?t start scritching noise. ?Gruz Gruz Gruz ..? like the noise from the motor engine at start up for couple minutes.

My System: Windows XP Pro. SP2 is still working fine but the noise at start up.
Could you let me know what cause the problem ?
and
what should I do to fix it?

thanks

Hmmm.... could be dust caught in one of your fans - either an airflow fan, your Heatsink/fan, or power supply fan.

Could also be the fan on your video card.

Lastly, it could be one of your HDs acting up. Don't be afraid to open the case to see if you can isolate the sound at bootup.

Like meltdown mentioned, check your hard drive. Go to the manufacturer's website and d/l the utility that checks the drive for errors. I remember well that scratching noise right before my hd bit the dust.

Thanks for reply my question.

I know Endust could blow out some of the dust in the case, front and rear fans,
but I am not sure endust could blow out all the dust from the Heatsink/fan, or power supply fan. ..
what do you use to clean the dust in your heat sink & power suppy fan ?

"Like meltdown mentioned" is what I am afraid of ... but which part was melt down ?
and
could it burn other parts like video card? Sound Blaster card ?

I will change the hard drive and let you all know what is happening

Again, thanks

Sounds fair enough!

Checked HD. Run HD fitness! Check startup applications!

Soy, if you have your case opened you should be able to blow most of the dust off of your heatsink.

???
Check startup applications ?
???

I am not quite sure what do you mean ?

???
I used endust to blow out most of the dust in my PC.
I changed my old power supply to new Antec 450 watt,
I also change the rear and 2 front case fans.

the system run smoothly for a month. Now it starts to make noise again.
I took out all old hard drive and put a new hard drive in, at start up, the system is still makes noise.. ?Gruz Gruz Gruz ..? like the noise from the motor engine at start up for couple minutes.

Is there any suggestion what I should do to solve this ?

thanks

yes
the noise is not from the hard drive .. perhaps, it is from some of the fans on board, on the fan of my video card, the fan of my Sound card, or on the CPU fan.. I will check it again, one at a time tomorrow

thanks
