Why we shouldn't start tariffs on China-made goods

I am surprised we still import anything from China. I would ban all of their goods. They have no quality control and they are just polluting the world like there is no tomorrow. It is not our fault if they put lead and dangerous chemicals in everything them make????

At the grocery store, I dont buy anything if it says it is a product of China.

1) Would violate existing treaties

2) Would start a massive trade war and probably collapse the global economy.

As many, if not more, major shooting wars have their origins in trade disputes as any other cause.

Don't look to Donald Trump for any sort of reasoned approach to national policy.

Tariffs on China would not start a trade war.

If China cut off the US completely their economy would collapse and the US would actually prosper after the initial goods shortages.
