Why we should all love Rep Katie Porter - D

Nerd note:
One thing I was curious about with this, and haven't checked, is whether values discussed correlate to the radii or areas of the circles.

The reason for this is the scaling of the information. Correlation with the radius will make large values appear even larger, due to the area being proportional to R^2, rather than R. Depending on your perspective, such scaling could be considered deceptive and misrepresentative...or a clever usage to show just how ridiculous the monetary allocations are.

Either way, Rep. Porter makes her point very clearly

A couple of youtube clips of carefully rehearsed prop ladened questioning?

It's entertaining and satisfying but in the end, its performance theater designed to get people to say what is known on record. Other members are able to accomplish the same thing without gimmicks or props.

Sure but R's understand those props ... throw a sharpie in and you have their undivided attention.
 
This is great, but we have had several of these sorts of hearings and yet nothing of substance happens. It's as infuriating as it is informative.

I bet almost all of the 98% of the public wouldn't know where to search to get this info. Myself included. I appreciate the work as the background required for the performance.

Example I have tried in the past to find CEO pay vs average worker pay for a given company and have never found it.

A melee broke out at Rep. Katie Porter’s district town hall meeting Sunday, with her backers scuffling with supporters of former President Trump who were loudly interrupting the congresswoman as she spoke.
Porter, a Democrat from Irvine, said the acts of the protesters were premeditated and that all attendees had been given the opportunity to ask questions.
“It is disappointing that a small but vocal group of attendees, who advertised a ‘confrontation rally,’ created unsafe conditions at a planned family-friendly event,” Porter said in a statement. “While I absolutely respect their right to disagree, their disturbance disrespected all the families who attended and were ready to engage in a thoughtful, civil and safe way.
“My team and I are evaluating next steps, but my promise to Orange County families is that I will continue to hold town halls and to be in conversation with them.”

What's really impressive is that this brash and brave woman represents Irvine in Orange County, CA, a notoriously conservative area. Major kudos to this lady!
 
Can't find a direct link, but yesterday, I saw reports of her town meeting being over run with Trump cultists yesterday.
 
Imagine being so deep in the Qult that you're protesting the one person doing the most to call out lying, thieving corporate CEO's.

If a Republican was doing half the work she is, I'd respect them too. But we'll never have to worry about that.
