Why was the "why do people stare" thread locked from HT?

I was quite suprised to find the "why do people stare (invoulantarily)" thread locked in HT. To the best of my knowledge, this type of thread has always been allowed in HT and has lead to some quite fruitful discussions. The most recent thread I can think of of this type would be the "sleep" thread a while back which ran many tens of posts long.

The HT forum is for discussing hardware issues. That thread should have been posted in Off Topic IMHO. The "sleep" thread was probably overlooked.

Just my thoughts, I could be wrong.

HT has been a forum for asking anything HT. I have seen posts on Science, Technology, Chemestry, Mathematics, ect. Not sure why it was locked. Maybe a mistake or a mis-informed Mod?

I was just in HT a few minutes ago, and noticed it has basicly turned into another Tech Support. I believe it needs to be cleaned out with some threads moved to Tech Support, but I am not a Mod and do not make / enforce the rules, so I (we) will have to bare with it for a few.
