That show kicked ass!! I just watched all four of the seasons with the GF. Quality show.

What is the reason they aren't bringing it back for? Not enough viewers?

Did they travel to location when they would shoot an overseas scene? I could see that as being pretty expensive.

but man, that show was awesome. I JUST learned about it 3 weeks ago.

I watched all 4 seasons in HD on my 50" plasma, don't worry, it was pretty to look at.

But the thing I REALLY liked about it was the storyline. It was always evolving, but had the same concepts, it was one of the better TV shows I have watched in a while, and i've seen a lot! So I was shocked to see Season 4 was the final season :(. So much left to talk about/clear up!!

Not cool :(. I didn't even know CBS had this show! Such a shame, I would have loved to give it my rating :).

Is there ANY chance they will pick it back up?

Where did you obtain all the seasons in HD might I ask? Did they release on blu-ray yet?

The Unit was the only show I watched. Now that they canceled it I don't watch any weekly shows(except for the occasional Office)

I don't know. Afghanistan, Bosnia, and South America all looked suspiciously similar to Socal.

Agreed. I can't imagine, given how much they promoted the show, that they had expansive filming budgets.

Only show I watched on CBS.

I would've said viewership on CBS, but they have some highly rated shows. I heard NCIS got some ridiculous numbers opening last week. God knows why... I actually lost interest in that show.

I can't sit down and watching more then one episode of that show like I can with The Unit. NCIS seems too CSI for more, and CSI:LV with grissom was the only type of CSI'like show I enjoyed.

They go into some location detail in the extras on the DVDs. For the episode where Bob crashed his helo with his translator onboard, it was supposed to be Fall in Russia or something like that, but they actually did the episode in warm/hot weather in the mountains north of LA with potato flakes to simulate snow (or something like that).

probably really, really expensive to produce--just like Terminator.

It is a great show. GF and I netflixed the first 3 seasons a few months ago, now season 4 disc 1 is on its way tomorrow. I'm stoked.

if anything, filming outside of the US would have likely been cheaper. Most productions have been moving out of the traditional home markets as they've been throttled by local taxes on film crews and such. Toronto has seen a huge boost in location shooting for US crews over the previous decade or so. Of course, filming in most of the war zones depicted in the show would simply not be possible ;)

that being the case, a shitload of money went into those shows--effects, size of crew, equipment and props, etc. I'm willing to bet that the expense was 98% of the reason it was canceled.

CSI has jumped the shark so many times the last few years I've lost track. And now they're bringing the ugly chick back. Bleh.

NCIS has much better writing and more likable characters (especially Ziva ).

My buddy and I both loved it as well. Only thing I watched on CBS. They just never promoted it and reality TV is so much cheaper to produce. Thank God we have a new NCIS show now, though. Whenever you turn on the TV you've got an 70% chance of landing on a crime drama show, or reality TV. TV is terrible.

It didn't have spectacular viewings and ratings, but it did do decently especially given its timeslot and that CBS did not do much to promote it.

I guess of its viewership that it didn't have enough of the 19-34 crowd that advertisers want. I seen that viewers of The Unit tended to be older than that, but that they were relatively well off so it's not all that bad for advertising.

Also they didn't go overseas for filming much if at all. Most of it was done in SoCal. And with that supposedly the average unit episode was actually far cheaper to produce than the average other drama shows (something like average is 3 million per episode and The Unit average was 1.5 million).

<--- yeah was obsessed with The Unit. I hate CBS for cancelling it; I don't want any of their other shows.
