Why was the Gay study thread locked?

not sure why this was locked... It didnt contain any kind of sexually explicit content.

Can't gay people have hot deals too?

Thats unfortunate, however it seems like maybe instead of killing a valid thread maybe the people that were being immature could get a little vacation or a warning?

It just seems like it's the victims that are being punished.

I disagree oldsmoboat. The reason the mods don't just issue warning or bannings is because the maturity level in the forums is simply too low. You have a small group of mods vs 90,000+ members, of which only a few have any measure of maturity. If they tried to use a warning/ban system in such threads, prior experience dictates that they would have to literally sit there and hit refresh every few seconds in order to police the comments that would be sure to fly.

I dis-disagree. 😉 Make an example out of 10 of them and then the rest will get the hint. Then, you should see an increase in the maturity level. Maybe even mine. 🙂

I have to agree whole-heartedly with that. maybe it can cut the 90k to 45k of fairly mature users.....

Regardless of the practicality of the thing, I still disagree with just locking threads like that.


You cant just not do what's right because it isnt as practical as doing something wrong.

for example: It's not ok to murder thousands of children in a 3rd world contry and use their flesh to feed the remaining populace just because that's easier than finding food to feed everyone..


I know that's an absurd exxageration, but somtimes it takes an absurd exageration to illustrate a point. I know the mods have a hard job and they do it on a volunteer basis. I respect that, but they still have agreed to do the job.


the bottom line is that sometime it's hard to do whats right. Im not even asking the mods to start spending a ton of time on something like this. Maybe just post a warning that lets people know that they will be banned with out warning for anything that even REMOTLEY resembles racist/sexist/sexual orientation-ist/hate oriented humor or behavior. I know that sometimes people make jokes that are in bad taste, but are still just jokes, but there has to be a line.


Anyway thats my 2 cents

Not to put this the wrong way, but the moderating can be inconsistant at times anyways (due to the sheer # of posts/members). I'd rather the mods hand out vacations for people intentionally being immature here and there rather then letting it go unpunished, or merely using a blanket solution like a lock.

I think the Mod who locked it was just being PC. IMO that would only be a Hot Deal at a Forum frequented mostly by Gays. In fact it would only be a Hot Deal on a Forum frequented by Gay Black Males.
