Why was my controversial thread locked?!

This is the oFFTOPIC forum, which means anything goes... so why was it locked? It wasn't exactly linking to warez, porn, and costa-rican prostitutes or anything...

Of the many member comments in this thread, LordMaul sums it up best.

A thread redolent of crass stupidity which invites further stupid
and meaningless comments may not seem like much of a deal, until
(as has happened recently) the forums become clogged with dozens of
the damnfool things, gradually causing a diminution of the number of
meaningful, interesting threads.
