But is was a piece of hardware that I had purchased that was giving me the problem. It wasn't as if I was asking about software that I had purchased.
Since all hardware devices involve software drivers it seems impossible to avoid discussing software issues when a device fails to work.

As it turned out the failure was due to VIA chipset incompatiblities on all my AMD computers.

Unfortunately, AnandTech's lock impeded my search for answers.

Maybe you should rephrase your question.

"How do I get a zip drive to work in Win 2K"

answer: Win 2K has native support for the drive, you do not need to install the iomegaware for it to function properly.
