If my unlicensed teenage son took my 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 for a spin without permission and then came home without the car, it would take more that aliens committing mass worldwide genocide to stop me from killing him.

Aliens? Worldwide genocide? We must have been watching different movies. All I remember was Tom Cruise and his son yelling at each other, and the little girl screaming her lungs out the whole time. There might have been an alien or two in the background or something. :p

Another issue:

After the lightning started, Tom Cruise looked down at his watch and it had stopped. Two problems here: it was a gold Omega chronograph, which a) would be much too costly ($2K+) for a blue-collar worker like a stevedore; and b) is mechanical, not electronic, and would not have been affected by EMF.

No doubt.... i would handcuff his ass to a meter downtown, and draw the aliens with those evaporating rays over with flares

Well, while we are on the topic, the guys running those cranes inherit those jobs and make healthy 6 figure incomes from them.

I'm sure the car could have been something from his youth, and thus tried to keep good care of it over the years.

You don't have to be anal retentive about your car, drive it like a pussy and detail it twice a month to have homicidal urges when other people take it out for a spin without permission...

That is actually a 1966 G.T.350H (H is for Hertz rent-a-car), I should know as I have one in the garage, and I agree with you about killing my son...aliens or not. But then again no one but me knows where the car keys are so it would not be much of an issue at my house.

I know the H designation (and covet them...) but I was not positive the one in the movie was one as it wasn't on camera that long... The one in my picture sure as heck is though.

Where approximately are those keys anyway?

Actually at the moment the location of the keys is irrelevant since I have all four Webber carbs off and in a box awaiting a slight modification to the progression circuit to cure a off throttle lean stumble.

I believe you mean xenocide.

Genocide - The systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group.

I think the human race qualifies...

Xenocide - No entry found for xenocide.

I'll stick with my OP, thanks! :p
