Why vote on Tuesday?

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but most people work on a weekday. Especially those in the middle and lower class, I figure. I don't understand why they don't make it on a weekend, like Saturday. Maybe I'm missing some historical point here. Yet, holding a voting date on Saturday would be much better and easier for everyone.

I remember some time ago (where I heard from I don't remember), someone actually brought this issue up. I don't remember if it was a local or state proposition, but I DO remember that the measure failed miserably. I can't seem to understand why this would happen. Perhaps the upper class fears the loss of voting power to the lower class? Maybe I'm just paranoid. Who knows. Any thoughts?

Duh. Who wants to work on the weekend to count up all the votes and man the voting booth.

Why would you want the lower class voting? They are lower class for a reason. They don't have good educations, don't understand the implications of their votes, and in some unpredictible way could vote for things that would disrupt the haromnious flow of power. Get real.

Considering that the voting booths here are open from something like 7AM to 9PM, I'd say there really isn't a problem.

Look at it this way, who works on the weekends? Almost exclusivey the lower income classes. At least during the week, all classes are working, except those that are retired, dont work (rich or poor), and others that cant work for various reasons.

Voting on the weekends would affect a smaller number of people, but would target the lower classes even more than voting on a weekday.

Besides inst it a national law that you have to allow an employee time to vote? Even if nbot there is early and absentee voting in most places.

It's because both candidates suck that you really should vote. You need to vote for your State representives, local reps., governors, mayors, etc., some of whom hopefully do not suck. As for president, wouldn't you hate for the one who you think is dumber, a bigger exagerator, pro-life, pro-choice, pot-head, coke-head, whatever to get in the White House and muck up all the work of the House and Senate. There's a reason the president is not called something else, eg. dictator.
