Thats a HUGE OUTRIGHT LIE. So is not being an elite. He might not have grown up that way, but he is an elite, he associates with elites, he is solely finanically backed by elites.
Senator John Edwards was elected to his first term in the Senate in 1998. In that campaign to represent North Carolina in the Senate, he refused political action committee cash, instead spending $3 million of his own money to win the seat.

You keep saying that Edwards is thought a fool in North Carolina. Is that because he's more to the left and more open-minded than your fundamentalist views? I've yet to see any proof of yours that Edwards is not liked in North Carolina.

Exactly why do you think he is more to the left? You don't know much about southern politics do you?
Proof about Edwards in NC......... Look a little harder with your rose colored glasses off.
If you read the local papers or listened to the local NCnews (like me) you would understand.
Anyone but Bush? be careful what you ask for.......

Ah, ok. Thanks for clearing that up.
The official site is a bit better, but feels more like empty rhetoric than real statements of view.
As for it being "empty rhetoric" I don't know. I'm more inclined to belive him or atleast give him the benefit of the doubt over Dean or Kerry. The idea of Dean or Kerry as president just doesn't sit well with me. Dean is to extreme in my opinion and Kerry has to much baggage.

You could searh for NC politcal info YOURSELF
"The same Tar Heel Republicans who were surprised to see Edwards rise from obscurity to beat an incumbent senator now are surprised to be watching Edwards' own popularity sink like a rock. At a recent NHL Stanley Cup Finals game in Raleigh, Edwards received a chorus of boos when he was introduced. State Republicans saw this as an omen. They tell INSIGHT the hockey demographic in Raleigh is full of the sort of moderate suburban swing voters (read: Northern transplants) whom Edwards so effectively wooed in the last election. If Edwards has lost his credibility with high-tech suburban voters who populate the "Research Triangle," say GOP operatives, imagine what the NASCAR set thinks of him!
The local polling data confirm these views. While his national recognition is climbing, his local standing is falling. Edwards' latest statewide approval rating stands at 46 percent, a stark contrast to Bush's 74 percent. The same poll shows that, head to head, Bush would beat Edwards by nearly 20 points in the senator's home state. "That would be much, much more embarrassing than Al Gore losing Tennessee," says Bill Cobey, chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. Political professionals state that Edwards' popularity slide is a consequence of playing to national Democrats instead of his North Carolina constituency."
"But for North Carolinians, Edwards' popularity as a senator does not translate into approval as a presidential candidate. When asked whether they support or oppose Edwards' decision to seek the Democratic nomination for president, 25 percent of those polled said they support it, 50 percent said they are opposed and 25 percent didn't have an answer."

They're not my ideal candidates either. But, meh, I just couldn't see myself voting for Bush. Heh, It's that lesser of two evils thing again. Now wouldn't it be nice if there was a strong 3rd party candidate so we wouldn't have to deal with the Dem/Rep BS? Oh well, can't always get what we want, can we? Such is life, you have to take the bad with the worce, so to speak.![]()

The problem is that the way our voting system works, it can really only function in a two party system. There are alternatives, like the system France put up, but that almost got LePen elected.

Yes, I could and I have. However, you come blowing in here spouting off all kinds of rhetoric with nothing to back your point of view. You won't last long here.
And, how were those polls performed?
How does the article's write know who was booing Edwards?
As goes Raleigh, so goes the rest of North Carolina?

Edwards campaign is solely funded by trial lawyers. His chief fund raiser is a trial lawyer, Fred Baron.
Hes is beholden to trial lawyers. He would be a puppet for the likes of Fred Baron and his ilk.
I have no doubt Edwards would stop any laws passing that would put much needed restirctions and or caps on trial lawyers.
If Edwards wasnt backed by shady people, like Baron, and he wasnt a trial lawyer, hed be a good candidate.

Look the people of North Carolina KNOW that Edwards is a joke, its funny as heck just watching the rest of the country getting hoodwinked. It will end though soon enough, when the Kerry politcal machine finds it expediant to do so.
Look bottom line is the guy is a lying, backstabbing trial lawyer from good old NC. He isnt even a one term Senator for petes sake and has ABSOLUTElY NO BUSINESS being President. He started campaigning for president as soon as he was elected here as NC Senator. He has been gone from NC and his job so often its beyond comprehesion. People him call him Senator AWOL.
IF by some miricle, he gets the party nomination he will lose to Bush by 20 points EASY here in NC and its his home. Dont any of you "smart" democrates understand the significance of that? He cliams his stronghold is the south? Yeah right hahahahahah

That's not quite as good as Kerry's elect me because Bush is bad plan. Why people will vote for someone with no idea on where they stand is truly sad
