I really don't think this is the reason. If you look at the targets (pentagon, white house, WTC), they are symbols of the US military, government and economy. If their only goal was to kill as many americans as possible, there are much more effective targets than the white house or pentagon.

I echo the same sentiments and offer only this...it's the capilists system that they want to take down, altho they want to become a part of this same system too - they want to have everything Americans have; the 2/3 tv's, vcr's, computers, etc., the big pool, the country club affililation. Most Americans live a very simple life and don't have all these luxury items.
