So..... This?
LW4U9.png

Damn, that looks ugly as shit.
Thank God we don't have someone like the OP sitting in the armchair of Google or Android.
If we did, I'd rather own an iPhone.

I actually agree withe OP, wasted space drives me nuts but I find large bezels more offensive than on screen ones that are at least in theory changeable

I can't imagine something this tiny causing me to post a rant online. OP has got to be doing PRETTY well in life and just looking for something to complain about. Congrats on having life easy OP.

I wouldn't even be able to use my phone without a good sized margin because of my Otterbox Defender. The side 'walls' are so steep that I can't hardly type the outer keys when texting, and dragging icons from one screen to the other is hard because I can't get my finger over far enough so it knows I mean to go offscreen. I have pretty big hands, but I think having some margin is functional as well as much better looking.

one of the many reasons decent margins on a tough screen are terrific in practice. It's a user-experience decision, and I agree with it even without using a massive case.

So everyone here loves margins, yet we seem to want zero bezel in our next phones to maximize screen size? lol. sorry but I think those zero bezel phones look fugly as hell.

Ya but they're easier to hold, a 5" phone with no bezel would have similar dimensions as a current 4" phone, our hands don't get bigger every year.

yes but a bezel serves not only for aesthetic purposes but because when your skin will touch the phone as your thumb reaches across. It becomes more and more so an issue when the phone is large because as your thumb stretches out the rest of it gets closer and closer to being flat against the phone.

thus a bezel serves to prevent mispresses on the screen.

Sorry but I hardly see that as an issue.
As I sit here playing with my phone to see if you have a point, I don't see a phone having no bezel as a problem.

Yeah I think the mispresses thing is overblown. I do think that having a small bezel helps you to build a more sturdy device. Also making a case work with a bezel free phone would be a pain in arse.

No margins would look terrible.
Also considering how Google+ seems to be doing fine without you, and Facebook would have instantly broken any feature letting people import their info into Google+ that idea would never have worked.

Any comments on how stupid and shitty this looks OP?

If there's one thing all the shitty themes with garish color schemes and skulls and illegible fonts has taught me, it's that the average person has ZERO eye for design and doesn't know what a good design should consist of.

As for bezels, I use my phone one-handed with my left hand a lot of the time and find myself occasionally mis-pressing when I try to reach the upper right corner with my thumb (the fleshy part my thumb/palm touches the screen, registering a press). So an even smaller bezel than what's on my Galaxy Nexus = no way.

Are you that fat that the skin from your hand folds over the screen? I can't mimic what you're saying on my phone.

Its a problem for me sometimes. Mostly when, say, I bring up a pic on facebook and zoom it in and then hand it to my GF so she can see it and if the phone has little space she will inadvertantly touch it and who the hell knows what can happen.

 no, it definitely speaks for itself :p

I don't get how else you'd rather they do it.

In your example, Google always indents the site links below the main site. It just indicates that they are subheadings of a site, not separate site links. It's the same thing on desktop browsers as well and is a no-brainer design. Meanwhile, main site links in Google do not have margins any greater than anything else- in a screenshot, or on screen on the device.
I give the google shot as an example because it didn't used to be that way. The margins used to be smaller, and the text flowed right up to the sides of the screen. 2nd indent was noticeable but not wasteful like now. They started doing that a few months ago. That update (to the site) really bummed me.

I'm not sure what you are complaining about now. Is it the fact theres a small margin at the edges of that screenshot and then the bezel of the phone?
the margin is significant and noticeable except on wider, larger screens like SGS3, SGS2, and tablets. It's possible I notice it more on my Atrix because I run at 225pixel density instead of 240.
