Adding during the edited part also.

The purpose of this thread is not to start a fanboy war. It' more or less for clarification of some things. Kinda for your opinions.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I kinda understand the need to choose a team theory and all as it's human nature. Not everybody has the same wants, needs, and beliefs in life. I guess the same can be applied to the red team vs green team to some extent.

I know that nvidia has been the major player for along time in the industry.
I know that without nvidia the current PC gaming industry would not be the same.
I understand the need for competition in this industry.
I understand that at one time nvidia was the only choice for the die-hard gamer.

What I don't understand is why alot of users and websites defend nvidia's current situation and defend it's somewhat unethical bisiness practices.

What I don't understand is why users defend them to the end and make excuses for the failures.

Why they blame other companies such as intel with the demise of the chipsets for example. But on the other hand defend nvidia for cutting ATI off with physX.

Why do people alway refer to things like this is just like when ATI released the XXXX and it failed or this is just like the nvidia XXXX that was a total flop. But then they bounced back with XXXX and dominated the industry.

Why do people use the past to predict the unpredictable future?

What would nvidia have to do to make you not love them anymore?

I guess before the fanboy action starts....If I HAD to pick a team it would be the RED TEAM

Edited Part:

If this belongs in Off-Topic then the mods can move it....I figure those who care about the Video Card Industry most likely will look where it was posted.

I understand that everybody is intitles to an opinion on things which is cool.

I also understand that some people like to voice an opinion even if it would be considered thread-crapping....But I'll over look that.

Nope: as referenced below, this doesn't belong in OT either. We don't have a flamebait forum to move it into, hence it's locked. -Admin DrPizza

Do we really need another post like this? There are maybe a dozen die hard nVidia fans that regularly post here, so it isn't really that bad. There are fewer die-hard ATI fans (in fact the few from the 2900 days have actually switched sides it seems), but that will likely change as ATI has done much better over the last couple years. These are inanimate objects, and shouldn't elicit the emotions they do.

I would ask that a moderator lock this thread, as it does not have to do with how the cards work, but rather the psyche of those buying the cards. Offtopic would likely be a better place for this topic.

EDIT: I apologize for the second paragraph. I guess the mass of posts talking about non-technical details had me a little flustered, and I decided to post such in the last one I saw. Nothing personal, and I can fully understand if non-technical posts are allowed. I just do not enjoy trying to weed through them to find functional information that is actually useful to me.

I like nvidia because their pushing graphics computing, and I'm hoping for good stuff in the future with that. I've also had better experiences although I know that's random. I bought a 9800gt to hold me over till this generation settles, but it's possible I'll end up with an ATI card at the end of the day.

People like to root for the underdog, simple as that :p

Kudos for actually picking a side though  nothing is worse than these boring "i buy whats best at the time" people stating that as if theres somthing smart or unique about that. Everyone buys whats best at the time, i prefer ATI but if theyre cards happen to suck... well my cash goes elsewhere...

Better a fanboy than a filthy neutral haha.

I don't have a favorite, what i like is to have the best product at the best possible price. Right now i prefer ATI because they offer just that but Nvidia has a great product out and the only thing keeping me from getting it it's the high heat and power consumption. 28 can't come fast enough...

I kinda understand whats he's saying though. I can never figure out why someone would ever be a 'fanny' of a stupid object and especially of a Corporation who never fed you, wiped you, or burped you. Yet some here defend a corp more then they would their own parents. :/

For example nVidia is a stinking corporation and a very unethical corp at that. Not that Intel or AMD is much better. I just used nVidia as a example.

I have Intel stock but I own some AMD hardware. I own some AMD stock but my main builds are Intel based. So in my eyes they are nothing more than "Products", which is the ONLY thing their offering. They aren't even giving them to you. NVidia had no problems charging $650-$750 for a video card when there was little comp. None of the companys has love for you so why would anybody have love for a stupid company.?.

Just my little penny. :)

I'm not as much and an Nvidia fanboi as an Ati hater. I just got sick of having to reinstall windows every time a new driver update came. The last version of Ati drivers I used was 9.something, I did finally get it down to a bit of a science with the help of driverhaven, but its so much nicer having drivers that just work.

Having said that, my next card at this point will probably be a 5770 or 5850.

Why were you reinstalling Windows with each new driver? AMD releases a driver at least every month, they don't expect you to reinstall Windows 12+ times a year...

Nvidia as a company suck. Very much a corporation that would milk you for every cent you got when there's no competition. Their video card is great but it's been sucking lately. My next card will be 58xx.

Because installing the driver caused my 9600, 9700 (mobility), 9800, x800xl AND x1900xtx to flat out not function, black screens, blue screens etc. Like I said eventually I found a utility and procedure to completely strip the drivers before attempting to install new ones.

I didn't start with a new install, but more often than not that's where it ended up.

I would only upgrade when I absolutely had to, but most often back then it was because everquest was forcing you to the latest driver release.

I still hold a grudge against ATI for their horrid AllInWonder 9800 series drivers. You needed to install 5 different ATI applications along with a bunch of .NET libraries before the TV tuner and video capture actually worked properly... and that's before you actually installed the video editing software.

Oh, and if you had to update the video driver to get a game working properly, it would break all of that other software and force you to reinstall it all :|

That said, NVidia's new cards make better hair dryers than gaming platforms. I'll wait for the $200 budget version that doesn't require a 1,100 watt power supply, thanks.

Yet your sig indicates that you have an Intel CPU and mainboard with Intel chipset. Surely they would "would milk you for every cent you got when there's no competition. " and have over the years no ?

Disclaimer: I use Intel and have over the years and have no problem with the company or their products. :p

Hell, you don't even need to reboot to upgrade ATI drivers (in Win7 at least).

1. Team mentality. Gotta support your team no matter what. Exaggerate the positive, dismiss the negatives.

2. Job. For shills, it's a job. They're earning their pay.

3. Prior bad experience(s) with the compeition.

nVidia was the reason I found my love for computers. I don't love them because of their brand, I love them because they've always tried to do better. I believe they will be one of the biggest players in the next 20 years. They remind me of the most important company in technology in history, with respect to their market(s) of course. The giant known as Intel.

The story is the rabbit got lazy and underestimate the tortoise. Before the tortoise crossed the line, the rabbit woke up and realized getting caught with your pants down is not the way you do it. push yourself and don't let others push you. That's why I like nVidia.

If mathematicians and other great scientists marvelled in their own creation, we would be still starting fires with rocks or wood. It's because of companies like nVidia and intel hirin the ambitious and aspiring scientist with no work experience that we got what we're always whining about. I love companies who take risk on unaccomplished, but promising people. That's what life is all about. We reap what we sow.

You don't need to reinstall Windows for updating drivers, for your information most users here do the simple update over the old Ati drivers,I've done this quite a few times myself on both Vista and Win7,I also game and do a lot of beta games testing and would say ATi drivers are up there with Nvidia drivers(which I have in my other PC) so don't know how you came to that statement/conclusion you posted which is pure FUD as far as I'm concerned.
