Why the Pats are going to destroy the Colts

How can Marvin Harrison, Brandon Stokely & Reggie Wayne possibly face-off againts Earthwind Moreland, Randall Gay & Asante Samuel and come out victorious. I mean Earthwind alone is going to shutdown the entire corps. The other two guys are just going to roam around picking off passes at will.

NE doesn't play a lot of man to man, so they won't have to cover those guys. NE plays mostly zones and they could be successful against those guys.

I'm not a big football fan, but I have a feeling this might be the year the Colt's beat the Pats.

If anything, it's probably their best chance in years...if they lose this time, they will never beat them,

I have a feeling Indy is going to pull one out on the Pats. Mark my words Eagles Boy Colts should beat the Steelers too therefore securing a Super Bowl victory against whatever hack NFC team barely makes it.

Offense it's no match, Manning > Brady, James > Dillon, Harrison/Wayne > Brown/Patten.

Not everybody has personnel to play zone. You need great safeties (NE has them), good tackling corners (NE doesn't have that anymore) and great covering linebackers (NE has the best). NE also has one of the most complicated blitz schemes. I still have to pick Pats as favorite (and I'm actually rooting for Colts), but with injuries to NE's DBs Colts have much better chance now.

Well, the bookies have the Colts as 2.5 point favorites...

I just don't think you can hope to contain their offense when your best CB's name is Earthwind.

There are two things that decide this game:
1. Which Indianapolis defense shows up
2. Does Peyton finally learn to deal with big time pressure*


* note his success in the playoffs last year and his TD production when he got close to Marino's record

The Colts would have won last year if the Patriots weren't allowed to cheat in coverage with their constant holding. Not only are they not able to pull that sh*t this year, but they don't even have the personnel to do it. Colts by at least 10.

They played within the rules. Now the rules have been changed they might as well put dresses on the Colts receivers.

No they didn't, it was always a rule, they just started emphasising it this year because of the blatant constant holding in the two conference championship games.

What if the weather is a factor? An offense based around a precision timing passing game can't be too effective in swirling winds and cold.

Plus I really don't want to see a one-dimensional passing team win. To me that's not football.

This game won't be determined by Colts offense but by Colts defense. Even on a bad day, Manning's going to score some points; the key is if the Colts defense can hold off the Pats attack and get the ball back to their offense. Another factor is going to be who wins the turnover battle. Manning is susceptible to INTs against the Pats defense and if he can't keep those to a minimum, the Colts are in trouble.

And this is another year that the playoff games will far outshine the Superbowl game. After this weekend's upcoming round, you then have the AFC Championship game. This Colts/Pats game and the AFC Championship game will be way more entertaining than the Superbowl will be.

Edgerrin James is 4th in rushing, and that's with having sat out the last game. I wouldn't really call them a one-dimensional passing team. I also think their defense is severely underrated.

Yeah. This probably the best chance the Colts have to beat the Pats in the last 2 years.

When they played in the first week of the season, the colts beat them selves, couple INTs and they still almost won. With NE without there starting corners out and the colts rolling I think its Indys year!
